I didn’t mean to purchase it, but I had good intentions of doing so. I made a hasty decision on my end on purchasing it due to thinking it would only be pay once and that’s that. I didn’t know that I have to pay it once per year. It would be nice if Memrise staff members would mention such a slight oversight on their end. Because it cost me a lot and I didn’t intend for this to happen.
I purchased it in my Iphone 6S and I’m trying to fix up this little oopsie. I’ll make a firm decision in the distant future if I want to be a Memrise Pro. For now, I’ll just stick with being a Memrise member.
Thank you for getting in touch. To clarify, the Lifetime plan is a one-off payment (so you would not have to purchase it each year )
Please note that if you signed up via Apple/iTunes (iOS), you will need to get in touch with Apple directly to request a refund. (Unfortunately Apple do not allow developers to access the refunds system).
On the Home screen, tap Settings.
Tap App and iTunes Stores.
Tap your Apple ID.
Tap View Apple ID. You might need to sign in.
Under Subscriptions, tap Manage.*
Tap the subscription that you want to manage.
Use the options to manage your subscription. You can choose a different subscription period, or turn off Automatic Renewal.
Turn off Automatic Renewal to cancel a subscription. Your subscription will stop at the end of the current billing cycle.
Thank you for clarifying. I see. So even with my hasty decision to buy it, I don’t have to worry at all paying a fee (weekly, monthly, yearly) from this Lifetime Pro Memrise membership? I unintentionally paid $100 once and the process will not continue unlike a typical subscription fee?
Correct. The Lifetime plan is a one-off payment, and you will not be charged multiple times on a recurring basis
Alternatively Apple should be able to process the refund via the information provided above.
In a similar vein, I have a lifetime pro account. For some reason when I look at the account tab it says “Next payment due: Nov. 1, 2023 (estimated time if you have paid via Google, Apple or Paypal)”. I assume this is a weird glitch and I won’t be charged for lifetime again? When I hit “manage” it does still show my lifetime membership. Thanks!
I’ll tag @MemriseSupport for you as Matty is no longer with Memrise …
Don’t worry, you won’t be charged. For a while we had to implement a ‘lifetime’ as an annual subscription where only the first year was paid and every year after that was free.
So you will be charged 0 at the next renewal date and may receive and email to say that.
I realise that’s a bit weird, and we have fixed it for people buying lifetime since.
I had a suspicion it was something like that. Not a problem at all and thank you for the information!
