Oh, wow, who even cares. Is this really your top priority? The the most urgent problem requiring the attention of your developers? I’m speechless.
… and it’s gone.
ziggy just went for me
It’s possible that their adult test-subjects were bronies (my niece watches that show sometimes, and it seems Ziggy could find a home there), but I suppose they’re not mainstream enough to count. Self-selection and all that.
Some were wondering what the replacement would be. Well, on the web i just noticed that it was replaced with a badge saying the level number. Maybe it was there before, and i just didn’t notice.
App is still ziggy… probably needs an app update…
An update would be very good.
Good! Now Ziggy is gone, please consider bringing back bright colors and the garden theme. Watering pots flying in the space don’t make sense.
Oh, and almost forget, bring back badges and crowns and other stuff. I want to be a crowned Meminence instead of a 15th level alien.
oh okay. I was starting to get used to Ziggy. I didn’t really mind him, I just want a better ranking system…
I liked him You could place him somewhere else or make it an “On/Off” Feature Sad, Good bye my only learning Buddy
Have you considered inviting friends to your house so you can all use Memrise together?
“First one to 15,000 points wins!” That could spice things up.
And if that fails, I think Siri and Cortana would be better companions.
A step in the right direction. A more meaningful reversal would be to bring back the course forums - with the abolition of these, the very useful feedback from users of my courses has dropped to next to zilch. The current system is distanced from the courses and clumsy.
Oooooh, I like the new shields! I’m guessing they’re probably just temporary, but I have to say I’d be quite satisfied if they were here to stay. I do love me some medieval ambience.
How about they take care of problems and bugs first, rather than things that literally have no effect on the learning process?
Great news. Honestly I didn’t expect something like this anymore.
Now please bring back:
Old color scheme and gardening theme, which was actually related to learning languages rather than this space-nonsense
Old rank system, which was funny, meaningful and motivating
Get rid of that random and useless recommendation button
Make course-forums directly accessible from courses again
Then start developing new improvements, many of which your users were requesting for a long time
- You like Ziggy
- You are OK with Ziggy
- You hate Ziggy
“Hate” may not be an accurate word. Voting should be symmetric. Smth like this:
- I like Ziggy
- I am OK with Ziggy
- I don’t like Ziggy
Also this poll could be informative:
- I like badges
- I am OK with badges
- I don’t like badges
Wow this poll is equal
@MemriseMatty said that the ranking system would return
Does that mean those words like Membrain or Memocrat return?
Post Scriptum: I like your profile picture @MarshallLanguages I had something like that (you probably remembered it):
Great. Now if we could just undo the December 13th changes to the website that made it more cluttered, filled with unnecessary white space, and just generally annoying to use that would be great.
I’m glad that memrise finally listened to the community about ziggy, but it took far too long, and communication is still lacking. There has still been no response to the community backlash from these changes. And they affected the user experience much more than ziggy, creating minor inconveniences everywhere.
Sorry for going off topic, but there hasn’t been an announcement on these forums in over 9 months. Just wanted to let yall at memrise know that the changes still frustrate me on the rare occasion that I (an ex-pro user) come back to use the site.
Just to clarify, the current ranking system (i.e. the one that has been in place for the past few months along-side Ziggy) will remain un-changed. We are only removing the visual representation of Ziggy and the various evolutions. The team will be looking at improving the ranking / points system to make a more meaningful learning experience. But as for Membrain or Memocrat returning, the jury’s out on that one.
