Em Portuguese (Portugal) 4 Level 2, a tradução para “eras” e “you were (singular, singular informal)”. Acho que deverá ser “you were (permanently, singular informal)”.

Hi @DavidYSun
Fixed! Thanks!

(David Y Sun) #124

I don’t think “jogará” has the meaning of “you’ll be”. It probably should be “he’ll play; you’ll play (singular formal)”. Someone please check, thank you.

Hi @DavidYSun.

Duly fixed!

Thanks and sorry for this delayed answer.

Ignacio

This woman’s accent sounds very Brazilian to me. Can someone confirm? Thank you.

(Ignacio) #127

Hi @DavidYSun, thanks for your message.

I’m Brazilian and I can confirm she does not “speak Brazilian” at all in this video.
Tbh, I cannot attest if she is European Portuguese native speaker (i.e., she might even be Brazilian and is pretending an European accent - which I don’t think is the case, anyways.
But the way she’s speaking in this video is definitely not a Brazilian accent).

Hope I may have helped! =)

Regards,

Ignacio

Thank you Ignacio for your quick response! It was helpful.

I’ve run into a translation error in the European Portuguese course: European Portuguese 2, Level 14

The translation for “nuts” is “frutos secos” in the course. I believe that term is used for raisins, prunes etc (dried fruit)

I believe the commonly used term for nuts in European Portuguese is “nozes”

This is an important differentiation for people who allergic to nuts. Imagine telling the restaurant you’re allergic to dried fruit whereas you really allergic to nuts. That would be unfortunate.

Could you look into this? Thanks a bunch.

Hello @CristinadaSilva68,

Thank you for your message!

Reformulating my last answer:

I’ve just talked to my European Portuguese colleague and she does believe that “frutos secos” is the best translation for “nuts”, while “raisins” could be “frutas secas” or “frutas desidratadas”.

Your suggestion “Nozes” refers only to walnuts.
Thus, saying that you like (or even you are allergic to) “nozes”, means you are not including peanuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts or any other nuts in your sentence, but only walnuts.

But you have a point when you say that “frutos secos” may also refer to dried fruits (while is a less common reference). Thus, to make make it clearer, I’m changing the English entry to “nuts; dried fruits”.

I hope this solves this tricky question!

Let me know in case you have any other questions or comments.

Regards,

Ignacio

I have just reached section 13 of Portuguese tapping tests and have come across several errors / only half the phrase present. As the phrases seem to be the same as those on another course, I wonder if there have been mistakes made in copying and pasting. I am finding this course very helpful so hope the errors can be corrected.
Thanks
Gary

Could you have a look at this @IgCostaBR? Just moved it so it’s easier to locate.

(Ignacio) #137

Hey @g-a-r-y.

Thanks for your message.

Could you please inform which course are you taking (like Portuguese 1, 2, 3…)?
I understand you refer to level/section 13 within that course.

Also, if possible, send me a concrete example of any error found, so we can properly check what may have happened and fix it.

Thanks!

Regards,

Ignacio

Hi Ignacio here are some examples with my thoughts on each one

Outros virão, talvez melhores, piores: mas diferentes.

translation Others will come, maybe better, maybe worse, but definitely different.

there is no definitivamente in the portuguese phrase

a loja lhes entregou o televisor.

Yesterday that the store has delivered their TV.

there is no ontem in the portuguese phrase

onde ele não estava!

The police (re) searching the thief where it was not

there is no ‘the policice are searching for the thief’

Neste momento encontram-se em casa dos amigos.

Right now they are their friends .

Should it be right now they are at their friends house

Eles vêm de tua casa.

They come from you .

Should this be they come from your house

Nós passámos por vossa casa.

We went home.

Should this be we passed your house

Thanks for your support I feel I have made great progress in learning Portuguese thanks to memrise.

Hi @g-a-r-y

CC @MarshallLanguages
CC @IgCostaBR

Sorry to say but MarshallLanguages closed by accident the wrong thread Several errors in European portuguese tapping tests

Your course https://www.memrise.com/course/168982/portuguese-grammar-tapping-tests/ is a user-created community course by the former user EasyAcademy (later replaced by the name UnitedCommunity or something like that which is now being completely deleted).

This course can not be supported in this PT EU 1-7 thread (offical created PT EU 1-7 courses by “Memrise”) by Memrise staff.

The other thread you had created for your requested help on level 13 is definitely the right one.
As the owner is not available anymore, only a course contributor can help (if there is any, which we do not see), if any has been added to the user-created course.

If there are too many errors contained, it probably makes more sense to drop it, if a course contributor with a good command of Portuguese and English can’t fix them.

(G A R Y ) #142

Thanks for your prompt reply, yes I think dropping it will be my best option. Sorry to hear the official ones only go up to 7 I think they are excellent but I’ve just completed 5 - only two left.

Regards
